It is heartbreaking to see the vast number of children on the streets going hungry. They are unable to work, forced to beg for whatever little money that they can get, ultimately having to give the money to their parents, who may not always use it wisely. Sometimes, the adults, rather than buy food for themselves, and more importantly, the children, who need it, they spend the money on tobacco or alcohol, or do not end up feeding the children with the food they do buy. This has a devastating impact on the growth and development of the children.
So, to do my part of helping fix our society, I try my best to distribute food boxes to between 50-100 children each year, usually on my birthday. However, as that was not possible last year, I distributed the food in December, during my break from school.
Looking at the content and joyful faces of the children is truly a humbling experience, to see the genuine happiness these children gain, from something we consider so trivial and a given in our day to day lives.
I created this blog to help spread awareness of this already a clearly visible issue, but instead of asking for donations of money, I ask of you to go out, and feed a child, feel their joy. Help improve our society by actively participating in solving the issue, rather than unburdening your conscience by donating money to some random charity, with whom you will never follow up. This site was created so everyone could share their experiences of helping solve the issue of growing child hunger. Help, by blogging and posting pictures of your acts of kindness, and by sharing and using the hashtag; #feedachild on social media to help spread awareness and the encourage others to actively participation to solve it.
